TITANIC

The history of Titanic has enthralled the world quite unlike any other shipwreck known to man. A number of books, articles and movies have been made detailed the tragedy of the RMS Titanic. Both the 1950's version of the Titanic's sinking, "A Night to Remember' and the more recent film have been very popular. James Cameron's 1997 box office hit"Titanic" was so popular with viewers that it succeeded in breaking a number of box office sales records.

The public seems incapable of forgetting the tragic history of the Titanic. Numerous myths and legends have developed over the years since the ship sank on April 15, 1912. Some of the myths are true, and others have simply been derived from the imagination of the numerous people who have become somewhat obsessed with the history of Titanic. In part, some of the tales regarding Titanic history can be contributed to the tales spun by the 705 survivors. It has been speculated that more than one of the survivors 'embellished' their personal story. The 'unsinkable' Molly Brown is just one of the surviving passengers who are suspected of having added more than a little flair to their tale.

When the names of the numerous famous first class passengers who were lost were revealed, the world was astounded that so many notable figures could perish in a single day. Conversely, immigrants who survived the sinking of the ship are now known worldwide for their part in the tragic history of Titanic. Poor and confined to the steerage of the ship, these individuals were only seeking a better life for themselves and their families. Instead however they earned an immortal place in Titanic history.

Titanic history buffs are quite staunch in their dedication to preserving the truth regarding the history of the ship Titanic. When 'Titanic' was released in December of 1997 moviegoers flocked to the theaters to see the beauty and the tragedy of the fateful ship revealed on the big screen. A number of individuals who consider themselves experts on the history of Titanic were less than impressed with the number of errors contained within the film. Despite James Cameron's dedication to filming the most accurate version of the Titanic accident history possible, the movie never the less contained mistakes. Some of these mistakes had to be included in the movie to insure the viewer's suspense and enjoyment in the film. Others however were simply matters that had been overlooked during the making of the movie.

The history of Titanic continues to be one of the most popular topics in the world. An insatiable thirst for information about the Titanic prompted researchers to search for the exact location of the wreckage site for a number of years. When the Titanic wreckage was finally discovered in 1985, the world got its first look at the ship in more than sixty years.

The tragic sinking of the Titanic and history of both those who survived and were lost, will forever be remembered with nostalgia and sadness.

Black Hole

I have found an article about black hole which is located in the space. Black hole is often defined by its escape velocity, which is the minimum velocity that needed to attained in order to escape from the gravitational pull of some object. The idea of a body so massive that even light cannot escape was put forward. In the semi-diameter of a sphere of same density as the sun were to exceed that of the sun in the proportion of 500 to 1, a body falling from an infinite height towards it would have acquired at its surface greater velocity than light that attracted by the same force in proportion to its vice inertia e, with other bodies, all light were emitted would be made to return towards it by the gravity attraction. Isn't it interesting..?

The simulation of Gravitational lensing by a black hole which distorts a galaxy in the background and complete article can be found at:

HOW TO STUDY SMART NOT STUDY HARD

The educational system has made it the student’s responsibility to learn his or her own way of learning. For some student’s this becomes a difficult and challenging task because they take the wrong path of learning. These students may feel they are studying efficiently when they actually are not. Below is step how to study smart and not hard.

1)SIT IN FRONT OF THE CLASS
Student who sit in front of the classroom are more simulated and get more of a lecture class than those who sit in the back. This is because you are more likely to pay attention in class if you feel your instructor is only talking to you. This also reduces your chances of day dreaming and falling asleep, or being disrupted by some other student.

2)BE A GOOD LISTENER
Lectures especially in large classes tend to be boring for students. Students will often look around the room, daydream or even take a nap. This is the negative attitude some students have adopted. A good way to prevent the boredom is to develop a positive attitude. Sit up straight and concentrate on what the instructor is saying. Remind yourself that listening and taking good notes will benefit you during the examination.

3)BECOME A BETTER NOTE TAKER
Most students take lecture notes but they have trouble selecting what is and isn't important. Some instructors will give their students a detailed outline of what they are going to say but some do not. So an approach you can take is understand the organization of the lecture early in the year or semester.

In the name of Allah

For this entry, I want to share about one article that I had read to make us realize our precious time.First of all, to realize the value of a sister, ask someone who doesn't have one.To realize the value of ten years, ask a newly divorced couple. To realize the value of four years, ask a graduate. To realize the value of one year, ask a student who has failed a final exam.To realize the value of nine months, ask a mother who gave birth to a still birth. To realize the value of one month, ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.To realize the value of one week, ask an editor of a weekly newspaper. To realize the value of one hour, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.To realize the value of one minute, ask a person who has missed the train, bus or plane. To realize the value of one-second, ask a person who has survived an accident. To realize the value of one millisecond, ask the person who has won a silver medal in the olympics time waits for no one.

Time is really important to human kind. Even Allah swears with 'time' in the several ayah in Al-Quran. Treasure every moment you have. You will treasure it even more.

Wassalam.

Since it is the 10'th comment in march, here the ten thing you should remember on your body.

The length from your wrist to your elbow is the same as the length of your foot.

Your heart beats 101,000 times a day. During your lifetime it will beat about 3 billion times and pump about 400 million litres (800 million pints) of blood.

It is impossible to lick your elbow.

Your mouth produces 1 litre (1.8 pints) of saliva a day.

On average, people can hold their breath for about one minute. The world record is 15 minutes 2 seconds, by Tom Sietas..

The human head contains 22 bones. More on the head and brains

On average, you breathe 23,000 times a day.

On average, you speak almost 5,000 words a day - although almost 80% of speaking is self-talk (talking to yourself).

Einstein's brain was of average size (1375 grams - 49oz).

Over the last 150 years the average height of people in industrialised nations increased by 10 cm (4 in).

How solar power works?
A solar tower is a device that converts solar thermal energy (heat from the sun) into electricity. Solar towers are used for large-scale power generation. Computer controlled mirrors (called heliostats) follow the sun, adjusting their position as the sun moves, and reflect sunlight toward the top of the solar tower, where a heat collector tank is located. Of course, more than one heliostat is needed, so an arrangement of hundreds or even thousands of heliostats is used.
The combined reflected sunlight of these heliostats is capable of producing temperatures as high as 550 degrees, Celsius at the focus point. Thus, the liquid inside the boiler is rapidly heated and is then pumped downward into storage tanks, or is pumped directly into to a heat exchanger where it is used to make steam.
The steam produced by the heat exchanger is then led through a steam turbine, which uses the steam to generate electricity. As an interesting note, liquid sodium can be used as a heat transfer/storage liquid, because of its ability to hold and store heat efficiently. Large storage tanks can be used to hold the heated liquid sodium. The stored "heat" can then be used at night, so as to continue generating steam which is used to generate electricity.

Currently, there are two solar towers in operation using the above design. The 64 MW Nevada Solar One and 11 MW PS10 solar power tower in Spain. Solar tower energy is categorized as CSP (concentrated solar power) technology. There are several other power plant designs which use concentrated solar power technology. This includes the parabolic trough and the solar dish engine.

The article above gives a new knowledge to me about solar tower power. The solar tower functions to converts solar thermal energy into electricity in large-scale power generation. The main parts in this solar power tower are the heliostas. Heliostats are the computer that controlled the mirror which follows the sun. The mirror will move as the sun move and reflect the sunlight towards the top of the solar tower. The solar tower contains a heat collector tank inside it. The combining of the reflected sunlight will produce a high temperature and boiled the liquid inside it rapidly. Then, it is pumped into a heat exchanger and led through a steam turbin and the steam is used to generate electricity. In addition information, the liquid sodium can be used as a heat transfer because of its ability to hold and store heat efficiently.

Anger cause you heart disease?

The analysis of 2,334 men and women aged 45-64 years also found that long-term stress is associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease in both men and women.Specifically, researchers found that men with high trait anger scores had 1.7 times greater odds for developing hypertension than those with low or moderate scores, and high trait anger scores were associated with a 90 percent increase in the risk of progression to coronary heart disease in prehypertensive men.

Moreover, both men and women with high levels of long-term psychological stress had 1.68 times greater odds for developing coronary heart disease than those with low or moderate stress.

The authors suggest that treatment of anger and psychological stress may have a beneficial effect on slowing progression of prehypertension to hypertension and coronary heart disease.

Skin cancer

Skin cancer is the most common of all human cancers. Some form of skin cancer is diagnosed in more than 1 million people in the United States each year.

Cancer occurs when normal cells undergo a transformation during which they grow and multiply without normal controls.

As the cells multiply, they form a mass called a tumor. Tumors of the skin are often referred to as lesions.

Tumors are cancerous only if they are malignant. This means that they encroach on and invade neighboring tissues because of their uncontrolled growth.

Tumors may also travel to remote organs via the bloodstream or lymphatic system.

This process of invading and spreading to other organs is called metastasis.

Tumors overwhelm surrounding tissues by invading their space and taking the oxygen and nutrients they need to survive and function.

the skin cancer treatment:
Treatment for basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma is straightforward. Usually, surgical removal of the lesion is adequate. Malignant melanoma, however, may require several treatment methods, including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Because of the complexity of treatment decisions, people with malignant melanoma may benefit from the combined expertise of the dermatologist, a cancer surgeon, and an oncologist.
